Jang Geun-suk (born August 4, 1987 in Danyang District, Korean: 장근석) is a South Korean actor, singer, dancer and model. He is best known for playing Hwang Tae Kyung in You're Beautiful (2009), alongside Jung Yong Hwa and Park Shin-hye, and for Kang Mu Gyul in 2010 in Mary Stayed Out All. Night, romantic TV series, with Moon Geun-young.
Jang began working as a model at the age of five, after being discovered by a producer. At that time, Geun-suk's parents, in the process of moving, met this talent / idol agent who was a potential buyer for their home, and he saw Geun-suk. Seeing his potential, the producer advised his parents to let him try a career in modeling. He made his debut, and began his acting career in 1997 in the sitcom Selling Happiness.
In high school, Geun-suk went to New Zealand to learn English and Japanese, but the Nonstop 4 sitcom brought him back to South Korea.
He further stated that it was the Japanese singer Ken Hirai who inspired him a lot.
