Tom (Thomas) Peter Odell , born November 24, 1990 in Chichester, West Sussex, is an English singer-songwriter. He released his first EP Songs from Another Love in 2012 and won the "British Critic's Choice Award" in early 2013. His first studio album Long Way Down (en) was released on June 24, 2013.

Tom was born in Chichester in West Sussex, a pilot airline father and a teacher mother of primary school. He has an older sister and a younger brother. He spent part of his childhood in New Zealand because of his father's work. He was educated at Seaford College. He studied classical piano. He started writing his own songs at the age of thirteen.

At the age of eighteen, Odell abandoned his plans and tried to secure a place in a music school in Liverpool. After a year, he returned to Chichester after being fired from his job as a bartender. He uses his grandmother's car to travel regularly to London to play shows and put ads in music schools. He then moved to London to play in a band. However, later, he decided to become a solo artist because he "did not want to have to rely on people".
