Faster Pussycat is a group of American glam punk and glam metal, from Los Angeles, California. His leader is Taime Down, boss of the Cathouse Club. The band released their first album in 1987 and seems little active since 2009.
Faster Pussycat was formed in Hollywood by Taime Downe during the glam and glam punk boom in the 1980s. The group's first incarnation included Downe and Greg Steele, accompanied by Brent Muscat. The name of the band is inspired by the title of the film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! by Russ Meyer>. After several training changes, Faster Pussycat includes Downe (vocals), Steele (guitar), Muscat (guitar), Kelly Nickels (bass) and Phil Wostrel (drums). Before the recording of their first album, Kelly Nickels is the victim of a motorcycle accident that will fracture his leg in seven places. Nickels is replaced by Eric Stacy, from Champagne. Shortly after, Nickels joins L.A. Guns.
The group signs a contract with Elektra Records, then publishes its first album, in "> Faster Pussycat , in 1987. The group is popularized in heavy metal scenes, glam rock and sleaze rock, thanks to two promotional videos of the songs Bathroom Wall and Do not Change that Song . In November 1987, the group appeared on the cover of the magazine Screamer Magazine . In the United States, the band is touring with Alice Cooper, David Lee Roth, and Motörhead in support of the album. Also in 1987, Faster Pussycat appears in the rockumentary The Decline of Western Civilization part. 2 - The Metal Years .
Two years later, Faster Pussycat records the album Wake Me When It's Over . The album is certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Sales are boosted thanks to the single House of Pain. Clips are shot for House of Pain and Poison Ivy . During their album tour in 1990, drummer Mark Michals was arrested in Omaha, Nebraska, and dismissed from the group. Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot replaces him for the rest of the tour, and Brett Bradshaw becomes their official drummer. In 1990, they recorded a cover of Carly Simon's song You're So Vain for the compilation Rubáiyát: Elektra's 40th Anniversary .
