In extremoExtreme is an American hard rock and funk metal band from Boston, Massachusetts. Formed in 1985, the group disbanded in 1996, then returned in 2007 for a new album and a world tour in 2008. His greatest success is the single More Than Words, an acoustic ballad from the album Pornograffitti. Album III Sides to Every Story contains three parts: Yours, Mine and The Truth. The last part is a twenty-minute triptych, Everything Under the Sun, featuring a recorded orchestra at Abbey Road. The central part, intimate, gloomy and introspective, is written when the band's second album was not selling.
Nuno Bettencourt briefly revives Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child in Rest in Peace. In Peacemaker Die, there is Martin Luther King's speech that begins with "I have a dream.... ». After this convoluted album, the band returns to a simpler style on Waiting For The Punchline. However, the success is no longer there. The successive singles did not allow the band to win, despite an Aerosmith opening tour in 1994.
Following the band's dissolution in 1996, singer Gary Cherone briefly joined Van Halen for the Van Halen III album released in 1998 and Nuno Bettencourt joined bands such as Mourning Widows, Population 1 and DramaGods.
Extreme made its comeback on the world scene in 2008 with the album Saudades de Rock. Since then, Gary Cherone has formed the band Hurtsmile with his brother Mark Cherone on guitar, Joe Pessia on bass and Dana Spellman on drums. From 2009, Nuno Bettencourt becomes Rihanna's official guitarist. In 2014 and 2015, Extreme is embarking on a world tour of Pornograffitti 25th Anniversary Live to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Pornograffitti album.
