Alcest

Alcest is a French post-black and blackgaze band from Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Gard.

Alcest was formed in 2000 in Bagnols-sur-Cèze as a solo project by Stéphane Paut, aka Neige>. Alcest started out as a black metal band (see the Tristesse Hivernale demo (2001) on which Blackfire's Valfunde / Aegnor's Dirty Famine was a guitarist and Argoth (ex-Black Death), bassist). The band then became the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Neige, also known for his other bands Amesoeurs, Mortifera, Phest and Lantlôs, and also for his roles as session drummer and live acting guitarist in Black Death and Celestia.

Alcest's first studio album, Souvenirs d'un autre monde, is the subject of numerous articles in the music press and independent media, including webzines devoted to underground scenes >>>>>.

In 2012, Alcest released his third album, Les Voyages de l'âme, and his first video clip on the single Autre Temps, directed by Julien Marie. The album Shelter is released on January 17, 2014. In early 2014, Alcest is one of 10 new artists that Rolling Stone magazine advises to listen to>
