Beastie boys

Beastie Boys is an American hip-hop band from Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York. For most of its existence, the group consists of Michael "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "MCA" Yauch and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz. Several other musicians and disc jockeys, such as Michael "Mix Master Mike" Schwartz, also play in the group, some of them for a significant length of time, such as DJ Hurricane or Eric Bobo.

The band Beastie Boys began his career in hardcore punk in 1979, participating in the compilation "New York Thrash" . At this time, his musical style is identified with bands such as Minor Threat or Bad Brains. He then tries to hip-hop with the release of his maxi single Cooky Puss , followed by a series of hit singles, then his first studio album titled Licensed to Ill , published in 1986, which provoked the enthusiasm of the international trade press, which met with great commercial success , and which ranks first-place hip-hop albums in the United States.

The band formed in 1979 as a hardcore punk band. The young Adam Yauch decides to form a group after attending the first show of Black Flag , at the New York "Peppermint Lounge" on March 14, 1981, and asked friends John Berry, Kate Schellenbach, and Michael Diamond (all in another group named The Young Aborigines ), to join his project. The name of Beastie Boys is suggested by the guitarist John Berry >, the letters BEASTIE meaning Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Internal Excellence >, although it is a retroacronyme.
