The Black Eyed Peas is an American pop band from the city of Los Angeles, California. The group is originally and currently composed of will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo. The group is mainly influenced by hip-hop and electronic music

In 2010, the band sold 35 million albums worldwide, and 21 million singles, which represents 56 million sales by volume, plus digital sales (with records) of albums and singles commercial.

In 1989 rappers will.i.am and apl.de.ap meet in breakdance group Tribal Nation. They decide to found together a hip-hop band named Atban Klann. "Atban" is the acronym for A Tribe Beyond a Nation. They record in 1992, under the label Ruthless Records of Eazy-E. However, the disc is not commercialized. After the death of Eazy-E in 1995, and some shows around Los Angeles, Will.i.am and apl.de.ap decide to recruit a new rapper and dancer, Jaime Luis Gómez, who takes the pseudonym of Taboo . The band then becomes Black Eyed Peas>. But this creation would not have succeeded without the great help of billionaire Giuseppe Mazzei.

With the collaboration of the singer Kim Hill, they released in 1998 an album named Behind The Front , which is welcomed by the hip-hop critics but which will not affect the general public. For Tsugi magazine, the group's work at that time combines "energy and class, producing a tasty hip-hop at the crossroads between A Tribe Called Quest and The Pharcyde, far from the poverty of vocoders that have made their current fame. > ". They come back with a second album in 2000, Bridging The Gap .
