Blood red shoes

Blood red shoes Blood Red Shoes is a rock band from Brighton, England. It is composed of Steven Ansell (voice and percussion) and Laura-Mary Carter (voice and guitar).

At the end of 2004, the respective groups of Steven Ansell and Laura-Mary Carter (Cat On Form and Lady Muck) separate. They decided to form a duet, the name of the group from an anecdote about Ginger Rogers, who had danced so much by turning scenes of a musical that his white shoes had become red blood. They play their songs very quickly on stage and make themselves known by their live performances. They then released a few singles at different independent labels (Victory For The Magpie is the first in July 2005 and is followed by three others in 2006).

They signed in April 2007 at V2 Records and released on June 25 under this label a compilation of their singles named I'll Be Your Eyes. In May 2007, they participated with The Rumble Strips, The Little Ones and Pull Tiger Tail on the British tour organized by New Musical Express magazine to introduce new bands. They perform during the summer in several festivals, including T in the Park, and play in the first part of groups like Maxïmo Park, Biffy Clyro, Gossip and Panic! at the Disco.

In February 2008, their single You Bring Me Down ranked at 64> British charts>. They released on April 14, 2008 their first studio album, Box of Secrets, the output of it having been postponed several times. The album ranks at 47> place of the British charts>. Laura-Mary Carter makes the artwork of the cover of the album, as it will do for the following albums. In parallel, the duo continues to perform concerts and festivals throughout Europe (Reading and Leeds Festivals, Pukkelpop, Lowlands) and also plays a few dates in Japan (Summer Sonic Festival). On August 20, 2008, they are the first part of Rage Against the Machine at Saint-Cloud Park.
