Cage the Elephant is an American rock band from Bowling Green. Formed in 2006, the group relocates to London, England in 2008 before the release of their first album. The group currently includes singer Matthew Shultz, guitarists Brad Shultz and Nick Bockrath, keyboardist Matthan Minster, bassist Daniel Tichenor, and drummer Jared Champion. Lincoln Parish was the lead guitarist of the band in 2006 until December 2013. The group's first album, Cage the Elephant, was released in 2008.
The three original members (Matt Schultz, Brad Schultz and Jared Champion) were part of a group in high school called Perfect Confusion and recorded a single album. Perfect Confusion does not change its name to become Cage the Elephant; the group simply separates, and two new members join them to create Cage the Elephant.
The band signed with Relentless Records after playing at the South by Southwest festival. their first concert is opening for Queens of the Stone Age in Canada. They then relocate to London, England> in the suburbs of Leyton. At this time, Lincoln is only 16 years old and his parents will sign a parental release. In 2008, they participated in the British show Later ... with Jools Holland with Coldplay, Sia, Glen Campbell, John Mellencamp, and Amy Levere (who will serve as audience for the group).
They record their first album, the eponymous Cage the Elephant, released on April 23, 2008 in the United Kingdom on March 21, 2009 in the United States, Japan, Australia, and Canada, and generally welcomed by the trade press , mainly for his energy and power. Their single Is not No Rest for the Wicked reaches 32> place of the UK Singles Chart. The number of Cage the Elephant's fans increases significantly after the band opens for The Pigeon Detectives in early 2008. The single Is not No Rest for the Wicked will be available for free download on iTunes the week of April 12th. The single Is not No Rest for the Wicked is also chosen to be the soundtrack of the presentation of Borderlands.
