Carpathian Forest is a Norwegian black metal band from Sandnes, County Rogaland. The band has a style he calls "misanthropic black metal" .
The group was formed in 1990 under the name of Enthrone , by Roger "Nättefrost" Rasmussen and J. Nordavind. Nättefrost, who also works in a solo project, has always developed a taste for provocation, whether in the visuals of albums (mixing nudity, sadomasochism, bloody scenes, carrying weapons - with a certain sense of the second degree). or on stage (the concert of the video tour of the DVD We're Going to Hollywood for This included, for example, women's obese and elderly but mostly naked). The other musicians also participate in this provocation on stage, the bass player, for example, appearing naked.
Since the release of the album Bloodlust and Perversion , in 1992, and the promo of 1993, Journey Through the Moors of Svarttjern , Carpathian Forest remains a cult band in the eyes of Norwegian black metal fans, just like their neighbors, Darkthrone, Satyricon or Burzum.
In 2001, Nordavind left Carpathian Forest, while recording their third album, Morbid Fascination of Death . The following year, 2002, comes out the compilation We're Going to Hell for This: Over a Decade of Perversions to celebrate the 10 years of existence of the group under the name of Carpathian Forest. Their fourth album, "Defending the Throne of Evil" , was released in 2003 as a Season of Mist label. At the end of 2003, the group is joined by Gøran "Blood Pervertor" Bomann. 2004 sees the release of their live DVD, "We're Going to Hollywood for This", and an album featuring old songs from Carpathian Forest, entitled Skjend Hans Lik .
