Chris Poland is an American guitarist, former member of the band Megadeth born December 1, 1957.
Chris Poland had his first guitar talents in a jazz / rock band called Welkin, while at Dunkirk High School in upstate New York.
From 1977 to 1982, he worked for The New Yorkers, where he met drummer Gar Samuelson, with whom he would befriend.
The two men join the group Megadeth in 1984, which can not find a stable composition. They will participate in the first album: Killing Is My Business ... and Business Is Good! in 1985, and Peace Sells ... goal Who's Buying ?, which will mark the first success of the group. During his tenure in Megadeth, Chris Poland was known for his mastery of legato and his speed of play. Marty Friedman, solo guitarist of the group from 1990 (who had to learn some songs from the first albums), said to have " hated to twist his fingers playing his solos "and consider Chris Poland as an incredible guitarist>.
But the stability of the group is undermined by its excessive drug use, Gar Samuelson and Chris Poland are expelled by Dave Mustaine in 1987. Chris is accused of selling equipment to buy drugs.
