Dagoba

Dagoba is a French melodic death metal band from Marseille, in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. They released their first album entitled Dagoba in 2003. It is followed by a second album, entitled What Hell Is About (2006), and a third entitled Face the Colossus (2008). They record and publish a fourth opus, Poseidon in 2010. May 27, 2013 released the fifth studio album of the group, Post Mortem Nihil East . Tales of the Black Dawn comes out in 2015 and the seventh album Black Nova in August 2017 with the new band.

The Dagoba group was formed at the end of 1997 in Marseille where its members met in high school. His musical influences include Pantera, Machine Head and other metal bands from the 1990s. They were five members: Shawter on vocals, Izakar and Stephan (aka ST) on guitars, Werther on bass and Franky on drums.

The name of the group is a tribute to "Star Wars" : it evokes the name of the planet Dagobah where the wise Yoda lives in episode V. mid-1998, with the arrival in Franky Costanza's band, the new rhythm section brings to the band's compositions a lot more metal elements (a double bass drum more present and a much more serious guitar tuning), which allows them to focus on the power of loud sounds. The group then recorded two demos (in Istres at Thierry Lalin) well received by the press and went on a lot of dates in the PACA region, forging a good reputation in the underground metal.

At the beginning of 2001, Dagoba signs on the Enternote label and records his first EP, "Release" , the digipack and the clip noticed for a first production . Distributed by Edel / Sony, Release The Fury receives an encouraging welcome>. At the end of 2002, the second guitarist, Stephan, left the band. In 2003, they continue to four and are now distributed by EMI, signed on Enternote. That's when they released their debut album Dagoba . The album is very well received by the press and the French public (16/20 on metalorgie.com>) and Dagoba connects concerts throughout France and abroad.
