Dance Gavin Dance is an American post-hardcore band from Sacramento, California. The band currently includes Tilian Pearson (vocals), Jon Mess (screaming), Will Swan (lead guitar), Tim Feerick (bass), and Matthew Mingus (drums, percussion).
During his emergence, Dance Gavin Dance released his debut EP, "Why I Say Is Royal Ocean" , in 2006, and signed to Rise Records shortly thereafter. The band releases its first album, "=" in "> Downtown Battle Mountain , in May 2007, which includes singles And I Told Them I Invented New Roman Times and Lemon Meringue Tie . Around 2008, singer Jonny Craig and guitarist Sean O'Sullivan left the band and were replaced by Kurt Travis (later A Lot Like Birds) and Zac Garren, respectively. The band releases a second album, Dance Gavin Dance, in August. Singer Jon Mess and bassist Eric Lodge leave the band before the release of the album. Bassist Jason Ellis will replace Lodge.
Happiness, the band's third studio album, was released in June 2009, and for the first time featured guitarist Will Swan on screaming and guitar. In 2010, the first singers Jonny Craig and Jon Mess, and the bassist Eric Lodge return in the group to record a fourth studio album, Downtown Battle Mountain II, which is published in March 2011. Craig and Lodge leave the group in 2012, which lead singer Tilian Pearson, bassist Tim Feerick, and guitarist Josh Benton to join the group. Their fifth studio album, Acceptance Speech, is released in October 2013.
Dance Gavin Dance releases a sixth album, Instant Gratification, in April 2015. At the end of 2015, the band embarked on a special tenth anniversary tour with the support of bands like A Lot Like Birds, Slaves, Strawberry Girls, and Dayshell. Their seventh album, Mothership, is released on October 7, 2016.
