Einherjer

Einherjer is a Norwegian Viking metal band from Haugesund, Rogaland. Formed in 1993, the group's theme is Scandinavian mythology.

Einherjer was formed in January 1993 by Frode Glesnes (guitar) and Gerhard Storesund (drums) after the separation of their band Belzebub. Together with singer Rune Bjelland and Audun Wold, they record a four-title demo the same year titled Aurora borealis. One year later, in October 1994, they record at EPFL's Leve Vikingånden studio, published by Necromantic Gallery Productions, at Lydloftet studio. In 1996, Audun Wold changed from bass to guitar, the vacant position being taken over by Stein Sund. The band recorded the group's first album, Dragons of the North, released on the Napalm Records label, followed a year later by Far Far North on Century Media Records. In 1998, the band was joined by Ragnar Vikse on vocals and Erik Elden on bass.

In January 2000, the Aurora borealis demo is released on the Necropolis Records label. In 2003 released their Blot album at Tabu Recordings>. After eleven years and four albums, the band split in February 2004>. In December 2004, all members of Einherjer's latest band, including founders Frode Glesnes and Gerhard Storesund, formed the thrash metal band Battered with bassist Ole Moldesæther.

In September 2008, Einherjer announced that it would be meeting for a tour of Europe in 2009, including appearances at the Ragnarök Festival, Kaltenbach and Wacken>. In January 2010, the group announces its entry into the studio for a new album>. In December 2010, the band signed with Indie Recordings, and announced a new album running spring 2011 >>>. The album is recorded at Studio Borealis, produced by Frode Glesnes and mixed by Matt Hyde; it is announced in September 2011>. Einherjer will perform at the John Dee in Oslo on Wednesday 20 April 2011 during the Inferno Festival. Einherjer also announces his participation in the Karmøygeddon Metal, Brutal Assault, and Summer Breeze festivals.
