Elio and the Tese Storie (pronounced: often shortened to EELST) is an Italian musical group from Milan, founded by Stefano Belisari (Elio is his stage name) in 1980. His music is clearly and explicitly influenced by Frank Zappa.
Elio e le Storie Tese is, with the group Skiantos of Bologna, one of the inventors of a musical genre known in Italy under the name of demented rock. At the Sanremo festival, he twice won the Mia-Martini Critics Award (in 1996 with La terra dei cachi, in 2013 with La canzone mononota).
