Enya

Enya Enya ( / ɛnʲə / ), born Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin ( / ɛnʲə pˠat̪ˠrʲəciə nʲiː vɾˠiːn̪ˠaːn / - sometimes met in the anglicized form Enya Brennan ) on May 17, 1961 in Gaoth Dobhair (Ireland), is a singer, composer trice and Irish musician. She is one of the most sold Irish artists in the world. "Enya" is a phonetic approximation of the pronunciation of "Eithne" in Irish Gaelic.

Enya can practically be considered as a musical group composed of three people: Enya herself who composes the music of each song and interprets them to sing and sometimes at the same time to the piano, Nicky Ryan, who produces the albums, and Roma Ryan, who writes lyrics in different languages, most often in English, Irish Gaelic and Latin.

Eithne was born in Gaoth Dobhair, County Donegal, Ireland in 1961 into a Gaelophone family where music was omnipresent. His grandparents were part of a band that toured and performed throughout Ireland, his father was at the head of the Slieve Foy Band before opening a pub, and his mother was playing in a band and then taught at Gweedore Comprehensive School. Eithne has four brothers and four sisters, many of whom formed the An Clann As Dobhair group in 1968, which they renamed Clannad in the 1970s.

In 1980, Eithne joined Clannad, which included his older sister Máire, his brothers Pól and Ciarán, and his twin uncles Noel and Padraig. Eithne played the keyboard and participated in the choirs on their albums Cran Ull (1980) and Fuaim (1982). In 1982 (just before Clannad became known for his Theme From Harry's Game), producer and manager Nicky Ryan left Clannad and Eithne accompanied him to start a solo career.
