Erkin Koray (born June 24, 1941 in Istanbul, Beykoz District) is a Turkish guitarist, singer-songwriter and singer. He began his career in the early 1960s introducing rock in Turkey.
His music is a mix of psychedelic rock and traditional Turkish music.
Regarded as the founder of rock in Turkey, he has influenced most of today's rock bands. As such, he appears in Fatih Akın's Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul. He is sometimes nicknamed the Turkish Jimi Hendrix.
