Evanescence is an American heavy metal band from Little Rock, Arkansas. He was trained in 1996 by singer Amy Lee (current leader) and musician Ben Moody (former member).
After several independent albums, the band released its first studio album, Fallen , to the Wind-up Records label in 2003. Fallen has more than 17 million copies sold internationally> and helps the group to win two Grammy Awards on seven nominations. A year later, Evanescence released its first live album, Anywhere but Home. In 2006, the group released its second album, The Open Door , which sold 5 million copies>.
The composition of the band has changed on many occasions: David Hodges leaving the band in 2002, co-founder Moody in 2003 (mid-tour), bassist Will Boyd in 2006, guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray in 2007. In June 2009, the group reformed for the recordings of Evanescence , their third album, published on October 11, 2011. It will reach the first place of the Billboard 200>.
In their discography, the demo album Origin , as well as the various EPs, are first downloadable on peer-to-peer networks. The group encourages this kind of downloads rather than buying, at huge prices, its old auction compositions. Ben Moody, ex-guitarist of the group, authorizes, at the end of 2005, the free and legal download of the first two EP's and their first album Origin , as well as than a few demos.
