Fit for a King was created in Tyler, Texas in 2007 by Jared Easterling, Aaron Decur, Justin Juno, Jared McFerron, Alex Danforth and Jed McNeill. The band first performed on local scenes and released 2 EPs, Fit for a King and Awaken the Vesper. In 2009, members of the group decided to start working full time, and McNeill and McFerron left the group to continue their studies. Ryan Kirby of Bodies Awake (based in Fort Worth) joined Fit for a King in 2010 to replace Mason Wilson, who had temporarily replaced Danforth as a leader. Bobby Lynge then joined the band as a guitarist. The group released their first album independently with Descendants, in 2011. With the release of their clip "Ancient Waters", the group began to win an audience. Decur left the group in 2011 to pursue a career in the law and was replaced by Aaron Kadura who also sang in clear vocals in the Easterling band.
