Fleshcrawl

Fleshcrawl is a German death metal band from Illertissen, Bavaria. Their most recent album, Structures Of Death , was released in 2007 at Metal Blade Records>.

The group was originally founded by Stefan Hanus and Bastian Herzog in 1987 under the name of Morgöth >>>. In 1990, following the departure of singer Wendelin Dopfer and the arrival of Alex Pretzer to replace him, the band changed its name to Suffocation , and released a demo on audio cassette titled Festering Flesh . Subsequently, the group is forced to change its name to avoid any confusion with another American group of the same name that had become known well before. The band officially renamed Fleshcrawl and released their first vinyl EP, in 1991 to the Morbid Records label. In 1992, Fleshcrawl signed a contract with Black Mark Productions, and in June 1992, released their first studio album, "Descend Into The Absurd" , recorded in Montezuma Studios. Shortly after the release of this album, Mike Hanus, the brother of founding member Stefan Hanus, replaces guitarist Gero Schmidt and, in 1993, the band starts recording their second studio album, Impurity , at Dan Swanö's Unisound studio.

In 1995, Markus Amann left the band, and Mike Hanus became bassist for the recordings. In December 1995, Fleshcrawl released his third studio album, in "> Bloodsoul , in 1996 >>>. Shortly after its release, the album will follow a fourth album entitled Bloodred Massacre , in 1997 with Sven Gross replacing singer Alex Pretzer. Both albums were recorded at Abyss Studios by Peter Tägtgren of Hypocrisy.

In 1998, Tobias Schick becomes the new bassist, which allows Mike Hanus to play exclusively guitar. Following the release of the album "Bloodred Massacre" , Fleshcrawl leaves the label Black Mark Productions, joins for a one-month tour of sides of Kataklysm and Vader, and participates in several festivals with Cannibal Corpse and Dark Funeral. Back from this tour, Fleshcrawl signed a contract with Metal Blade Records and, in January 2000, released his fifth studio album, As Blood Rains from the Sky , We Walk the Path of Endless Fire , produced at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden.
