Flotsam and jetsam

Flotsam and Jetsam is an American thrash metal band from Phoenix, Arizona. He is often associated with the name of Jason Newsted who was the first bassist before joining Metallica. In spite of promising beginnings with the albums Doomsday for the Deceiver and No Place for Disgrace , the group is struggling to break out of underground circles.

The band, whose original name was Paradox , was founded by drummer Kelly David-Smith and two guitarists until 1982, when bassist Jason Newsted joined the band. Jason came to Phoenix with his band Gangster,> assuming to continue in California, but the band split when they came to Phoenix>. Kelly and Jason (who also sang) perform their first real concert under the name Dredlox >>>, accompanied by guitarists Mark Vazquez and Kevin Horton. Kelly sees Eric A. Knutson sing The Goodbye Girl during a show at his high school. In 1983, they studied in the same class, and Kelly asked Eric if he wanted to audition. They give him two weeks of trial period, then Eric joins the group. Because of this trial period as a member, the group nicknamed Eric "the 2 weeker" . Ed Carlson, who was part of a rival band called Exodus (no relationship with the California thrash band), joined the band in 1983 after Kevin's departure from the band. The group name changes to The Dogz > but it will not last long; the group will be renamed Flotsam and Jetsam after writing a title inspired by a chapter of the Two Towers of J. R. R. Tolkien .

The group debuted on stage at local clubs and in the state of California; He also has the opportunity to play alongside bands such as Megadeth, Armored Saint, Alcatraz, Malice, Exciter, Mercyful Fate, Riot, and Autograph. Flotsam and Jetsam records his first album in Los Angeles, "Doomsday for the Deceiver", produced by Brian Slagel, and released on July 19, 1986>. He is considered by many to be a centerpiece in the history of thrash metal, and he is the first to be awarded the 6 star rating by the magazine Kerrang >>>. Bassist Jason Newsted, who was also the lead songwriter and songwriter, left the band soon after to join Metallica, and replace their bassist Cliff Burton who died in a bus accident.
