The Gipsy Kings are an Andalusian music group from the south of France, composed of musicians from two families of Spanish and gypsy origin. Their style is composed of flamenco, pop and Latin rhythms mixed.
The members of the Gipsy Kings are mostly born in France, in families who fled Catalonia during the Spanish Civil War. They are of Abott origin, a tribe that only travels in a caravan. As for Chico Bouchikhi, this one is of Algerian and Moroccan origins.
After a pilgrimage to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in the 1970s, Tonino, Paco and Diego Baliardo meet their cousins Nicolas, Canut and Paul Reyes, son of José Reyes the group "Los Reyes".
In 1977, released the album Gitan poet under the names of Jose Reyes and Los Reyes with Chico Bouchikhi. In 1978, Chico and Nicolas are invited to play on the birthday of Brigitte Bardot in Saint-Tropez.
