Green carnation

Green Carnation is a Norwegian progressive rock and metal band. Although little known to the general public, the group is followed by many fans of the genre. Notable event of progressive metal, the release of "Light of Day, Day of Darkness , an album consisting of a single track of 60 minutes , remains to this day one of the longest songs of its kind.

The group Green Carnation was formed in 1990 by Terje Vik Schei, also known as Tchort>, shortly before his participation in the black metal band Emperor, as a bassist. The departure of Chort caused the split of the group and the creation of In the Woods ..., an avant-garde metal formation by the remaining members. At the time, Green Carnation is essentially a death metal band.

Tchort remakes the group in 1998 and leaves Journey to the End of the Night. This first album combines doom metal and folk metal. In 2001, the band released the album "Light of Day, Day of Darkness , with the particularity of being composed of a single song of one hour and five seconds. This album turns to progressive metal, progressive rock, folk metal and gothic metal.

The transition is also marked by the change of record company in 2005, to the American label The End Records. The Quiet Offspring appears in the same year. The beginning of 2006 marks the release of their fifth studio album, The Acoustic Verses .
