Haken

Haken is a British progressive metal band from London, England. Formed in 2007, the band has a total of five studio albums including Aquarius in 2010, Visions in 2011, The Mountain in 2013, Affinity in 2016 and Vector in 2018.

Haken was formed in 2007 by To-Mera guitarist and keyboardist Richard Henshall and his two school friends Ross Jennings (vocals) and Matthew Marshall (guitar). The band recruits Peter Jones's friend Raymond Hearne and To-Mera guitarist Thomas MacLean, who becomes bassist of the band. Henshall explains on a few occasions that Haken is the name of a fictional character he and his friends invented during class, under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

they record a demo in 2007 that includes two songs, Snow and Souls. Shortly after the release of The Mountain album, bassist Tom MacLean announces his departure to devote himself to his band To-Mera as a guitarist. After an organized YouTube audition featuring the perfect note-to-note performance of the song Portals (from their Visions album) and the rearrangement of the progressive ballad Because It's There (from The Mountain), it's the American Conner Green who will be chosen by the group to replace him.

During the summer of 2014, the group recorded a new EP, which will be released on October 27, 2014 and will be the first release with Conner Green on bass. In September 2014, Haken publishes the video of Darkest Light, the first part of this EP that will be called Restoration. Restoration will contain three titles, which will be modified and re-recorded versions of titles from their first Enter The 5th Dimension demo (the first single, Darkest Light, is a new version of Blind). This new release will be published in digital format (download), but also in the form of a pack including a vinyl and a CD. The CD should not be sold without vinyl>.
