Hide

Hideto Matsumoto ( lang = "ja"> 松本 秀 人 ) , better known under its stage name hide (without uppercase and pronounced / hide /), is a Japanese musician, singer , composer and guitarist of visual rock band X Japan, born December 13, 1964 e he died on May 2, 1998. He has sold millions of recordings, either within X Japan or solo. In the early 90s, X Japan (then named X) has a growing reputation that will propel the group to the heights of Japanese rock until its separation in 1997. At the same time, the solo career of hide knows the same craze. At the height of his fame, while the recording of his third studio album is about to launch him on an international career with the newly formed Zilch , he died accidentally on May 2, 1998.

hide is now considered as the icon of a generation struggling against the conformist society of his country and his death marked the end of an era in the history of visual rock and more broadly that of Japanese rock. Over time, he became a great artist who revolutionized Japanese music, an artist who was credited with creating the "Psychedelic Violence Crime of Visual Shock" slogan of X Japan, and the first trigger in the creation of the visual movement.

hide (self-written voluntarily without capital letter, pronounced hide) was born on December 13, 1964 in St Joseph's Hospital, Midorigaoka, Yokosuka, Japan. He has a younger brother. During his childhood, his classmates make fun of his overweight. He finds his best friend: music. Indeed, hide discovers rock during his adolescence, thanks to the group Kiss. His grandmother gives him a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe guitar for his 15th birthday and learns to play it all alone, his spare time being devoted. His classmates will call him Gibson. While studying to become a professional hairdresser, hide creates the group "Saber Tiger" (later renamed "Yokosuka Saver Tiger" to differentiate himself from another group already bearing this name), moreover it is a group of Yokosuka's friends, whose look is emphasized by hairstyles hitherto improbable in this Japanese era. On August 6, 1985, hide obtains her hairdressing diploma with excellent results. But some of the members want to continue their studies. It was then that in January 1987, hide decided to dissolve Yokosuka Saber Tiger, because as he said, "the health of a group depends first of all on a good motivation ">.

hide having dissolved his group recovers to the hairstyle, in the footsteps of his parents. In 1987, the young man is contacted by a certain Yoshiki Hayashi who, having heard about his talents as a guitarist and looking for musicians for his training, offers him to join his group. hide eventually accepts and officially becomes a member of group X (who will change his name to "X Japan" in the early 1990s) in February 1987. He is the lead guitarist alongside Pata. He occasionally composes for the band like Joker, Celebration, Scars, "Drain" (which he will later pick up under the title "What's up Mr Jones"), hide has the reputation of being a beast and has a character well Very quickly, the group is a huge success, first in the top Oricon and sold out at every show X Japan becomes the biggest rock band in Japanese history.
