Impaled Nazarene is a Finnish extreme metal band from Oulu. He started in black metal initially with elements from grindcore, then later, pushed to hardcore punk. The band is currently signed to the French label Osmose Productions.
The group was formed in November 1990 by members Mika Luttinen, Kimmo Luttinen, Mika Pääkkö, Ari Holappa, and Antti Pihkala. On March 16, 2003, guitarist Teemu Raimoranta dies during a fall from a bridge, an incident related to alcohol.
Their ninth album, Pro Patria Finlandia, was released in 2006, and successfully imported to Japan. Impaled Nazarene tours with bands like Cannibal Corpse, Mayhem and Dark Tranquility, crossing four continents and thirty countries. The French organization AGRIF has banned the concert of the group planned for the festival Metal Therapy Festival of 2006>. Luttinen then announced a European tour of the band >>>, before the release of the album Manifest the following year, in 2007. The title of this new album is revealed during January 2007>. That same year, the group announced the ban of their album Nihil of the German market.
