Jex Thoth is a group of doom metal and psychedelic American rock, originally from San Francisco>, led by singer Jessica Thoth, whose pseudonym> also serves as a name for the group and refers to the Egyptian god Thot .
Under the name of Totem, the band releases a first eponymous EP in 2007 on the Swedish label I Hate Records. The group changes name soon after for Jex Thoth. The following year, Jex Thoth released his first album, shortly after the publication of a split with the group Pagan Altar. In the same year, a new edition of EP Totem and a new EP, Witness, appear. The group gained notoriety during the year 2010, embarking on two tours in April and October / November and giving concerts at festivals such as the Doom Shall Rise in Göppingen, the Roadburn Festival in Tilburg and the Hammer of Doom in Würzburg. Another tour across Europe followed in July 2011.
The group's covers, with the exception of the EP Totem and the LP Blood Moon Rise, were made by Finnish Sami Albert Hynninen, also known as Albert Witchfinder, from the band Reverend Bizarre.
The group bridges the Black Sabbath metal sonorities with the experimental approach of Amon Düül II. The guitar game evokes Marillion while the lyrics are very influenced by the occult>.
