Johann krieger

Johann Krieger is a German composer and organist, born in Nuremberg on December 28, 1651 and died in Zittau on July 18, 1735.

According to Johann Mattheson, he is the pupil of Kapellmeister Heinrich Schwemmer at the Church of St. Sebald Nuremberg. He then studied the keyboard with Georg Caspar Wecker from 1661 to 1668, and perhaps the composition, together with his brother Johann Philipp, in Zeitz, in 1671.

In 1672 he became organist at Bayreuth, occupying the position his brother had left shortly before.

From 1678 to 1680 he was organist in Greiz and from 1680 to 1682 he was appointed to Eisenberg, before becoming cantor of St. Johannis Church in Zittau, where he remained until the end of his life.
