He plays a leading role in the development of this music. The musical sound of the band is characterized by the combination of an electronic bass line and rhythm to a harmonic structure and repetitive melodies made from synthesizers, accompanied by minimalist lyrics sung or vocoded in several languages (German, French , Spanish, English, Russian, Japanese, Italian, Polish).
The group is formed in 1970 by Florian Schneider-Esleben and Ralf Hütter>. The first plays the flute and the violin, the second plays the piano and the organ. They met in improvisation class during their studies at the Dusseldorf Conservatory in 1968>. Their shared tastes for experimental electronic music that the press will later describe as krautrock mobility definitely seal their friendship.
