Lacuna coil

Lacuna coil Lacuna Coil is an Italian heavy metal band from Milan. The group was formed in 1994, first as Sleep of Right then Ethereal>.

Their music is inspired by the Gothic movement, using melodious guitar lines, alternating heavy and clear vocals, with a slight pop influence. According to them, the band is influenced by others such as Paradise Lost, Tiamat, Septicflesh or Type O Negative.

In 1994, in Milan, Italy, Andrea Ferro (vocals) and Marco Coti Zelati (bass / composition) founded the group Sleep of Right , and recruit Raffaele Zagaria on guitar, and Michaelangelo on drums. After two demos, Bleeding Souls and Noise of Bolgia , Claudio Leo becomes the band's second guitarist, and Leonardo Forti replaces Michaelangelo on drums after he leaves. The group then asks Cristina Scabbia, a friend, to briefly join the formation as a choir, finally making her an official member of Sleep of Right . Shortly thereafter, the band changed its name to Ethereal, and signed with Century Media at the end of 1997. Noting that the name Ethereal was already used by a Greek group, they changed their name to Lacuna Coil, which means "gap spiral. The nearest English translation being "Empty Spiral">. "

In 1998, they released their first EP, entitled Lacuna Coil . The album was produced by Waldemar Sorychta (who will work with them until the album Comalies ), published by Century Media. Shortly afterwards came the departure of Raphael Zagaria, Claudio Leo and Leonardo Forti. As a result, guitarist Cristiano Migliore and drummer Cristiano Mozzati are then officially recruited. At this point, the band was touring with Moonspell.
