Mamonas Assassinas is a Brazilian rock band from Guarulhos. They enjoyed great success in the mid-1990s with their humorous and satirical songs. They sold more than 2 million copies of their first album. At the height of his career, the group was the victim of a plane crash where they all died on March 2, 1996. They only had 7 months of activity and success under this name.
The death of these five artists leaves Brazil in a considerable national turmoil, two years after the tragic death of Ayrton Senna. In the week, nearly 82,000 people held a minute of silence in the legendary Maracanã stadium during the match between Flamengo and Botafogo.
The song Chopis Centis from their live album has the same rhythm as Should I Stay or Should I Go from The Clash.
