Marina and the diamonds

Marina Lambrini Diamandis , known professionally under her stage name Marina (previously Marina and the Diamonds ), is a Welsh singer-songwriter born October 10, 1985 in Abergavenny, Wales. She became famous across the Channel after being in second place in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll, behind Ellie Goulding. After releasing an EP limited to 70 copies in 2007, she released a second, The Crown Jewels EP, under the label Neon Gold Records in 2009. Currently under contract with the label 679 Artists, she released her first album, The Family Jewels in 2010, followed in 2012 by a second album, Electra Heart. In March 2015, Marina Diamandis publishes her third album, Froot.

Marina Diamandis was born on October 10, 1985 in Abergavenny, Wales, with a Greek father and a Welsh mother.

She studied at St. Catherine's British Embassy School then Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls . Of the latter, she says besides "I somehow discovered my vocation there ... I was the one who always avoided the choirs, but I had an incredible music teacher who managed to me to convince myself that I could do something ">>>.

After leaving university, Marina Diamandis moved to London at the age of eighteen, where she attended a dance school for two months. She then took singing lessons for a year at the Vocaltech West London Music School in 2005>.

She audition for musicals such as The Lion King. Marina Diamandis admitted to auditioning for a reggae boy band under contract with Virgin Records in 2005, to try to find a place on the music scene. She said she was "deliriously cheerful" and finally decided to dress in a man's suit to try to entertain the label for hiring him, which was a failure. It was however recalled by the label a week later >>>.

Marina Diamandis is synesthete and thus sees the musical notes and the days of the week of different colors.

Marina Diamandis created in 2005 the artist name " Marina and the Diamonds ">. It consists of his first name and the English translation of his surname which means "diamonds" in Greek. Although the part " the Diamonds " is often mistakenly considered as referring to the musicians accompanying it>, it is actually dedicated to fans of the singer: she explains it on her Myspace saying "I am Marina. You are diamonds. ">>>.
