Memphis May Fire is an American metalcore band from Dallas, Texas. Since its formation in 2006, the band has two EPs, and five studio albums on the label Rise Records, with whom they have been since 2011.
Memphis May Fire hoped to release its first album, produced by guitarist Kellen McGregor, in the summer of 2006. However, during recording sessions for the album, singer Chase and drummer Dooley decided to leave the band. Chase says she left the band to focus on her child, not a band on tour. Dooley will stay in the music but in Missouri. Bassist Austin Radford will also leave soon after the creation of his band called American Mantra, in which he is the singer. He will be replaced by Daniel De Los Santos, then by Cory Elder. Auditions take place after Chase's departure, on an instrumental song titled Decade on their MySpace, and he is eventually replaced by Matty Mullins (Nights in Fire). At that time, Memphis May Fire had already recorded the instrumental tracks of their new album with producer Casey Bates and needed Mullins for vocal parts.
Their first album, Sleepwalking , was released on May 21, 2009, at Trustkill Records. Memphis May Fire describes the album as "a new style of rock n 'roll" and musically as "more aggressive in guitar and especially more melodic, but still in a very southern style>. Their Ghost in the Mirror song is used for the movie soundtrack Saw VI . The guitarist, Ryan Bentley, will not participate in the clip. Joel Seier will join the group to replace Bentley until his return in late 2009.
