Monuments is a British progressive metal band from Milton Keynes, England. He was trained in 2007 by two guitarists John Browne (ex-Fellsilent) and Josh Travis (ex-The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza). The band has a total of three studio albums on the Century Media Records label: Gnosis in 2012, The Amanuensis in 2014 and Phronesis in 2018.
Monuments is formed by guitarists John Browne and Josh Travis in 2007>. In the beginning, the band played under the name of Elements. In 2010, the group released its first EP entitled We Are the Foundation. After several training changes, the group signed with Century Media Records in 2012 announcing the arrival of singer Matt Rose the same day. Their debut album, Gnosis, is released on August 28, 2012. The same year, the band is taking part in the Euroblast tour with Jeff Loomis as well as the Vildhjarta and Stealing Axion groups. Another European tour followed in early 2013 with Born of Osiris and After the Burial.
In March 2013, Monuments separates from his singer Matt Rose>. A few months later in July 2013, the group announces that the singer Chris Barretto (formerly Periphery) will take his place >>>. In December 2013, the group announces on Facebook that they have finished recording their second album>, which was recorded in Wales with Romesh Dodangoda>. In April 2014, Monuments announced the release of their new album The Amanuensis for June 23rd.
In June 2016, the band performs a concert at Copenhagen's Copenhell.
