Nine Inch Nails [ n a ɪ n ɪ n < / span> t͡ʃ n e ɪ l z ] , NIN , or sometimes stylized NII , is an American industrial metal band, originally from Cleveland, Ohio. It was formed in 1988 by Trent Reznor, the leading producer, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, who represents the only official member of Nine Inch Nails and remains the sole leader of his direction, until the arrival of the English musician Atticus Ross in the group in 2016>. Mainly industrial metal, the music of Nine Inch Nails offers an eclectic mix of genres such as alternative rock, ambient, electronica and synthpop. After recording an album, Reznor usually recruits a group of musicians to play with him. The training changes with each new tour and often re-matches the songs to match a live performance. On stage, Nine Inch Nails often incorporates light effects as visual elements of scenography.

Fans of underground music warmly welcome Nine Inch Nails during her early years. Reznor produced several highly influential recordings in the 1990s that achieved great popularity. Many Nine Inch Nails songs have become radio hits. Of the twelve Grammy nominations received by Nine Inch Nails, two songs are awarded ( Wish in 1992 and Happiness in Slavery in 1995).
