Obrint Pas is a musical band from Valencia, Valencian Country. Their musical style is a mix of ska and traditional music especially because of the use of the traditional oboe dolçaina. Their words call for the independence of the Catalan countries and the support of the Valencian culture. In 2014, the band indefinitely pauses.
Obrint Pas (Valencian expression for "breakthrough" , literally "Opening the step") is formed in 1993, when a group of friends establishes contact with a producer at the institute Benlliure of Valencia>. In 1994, they record their first demo with which they participate in the final phase of the III Tirant de Rock. A few years earlier, the group participated in various festivals and competitions in order to consolidate its own music.
The first disc arrives in 1997 under the name La revolta de l'anime (composed of five pieces). Obrint pas suit (2000), the first record under the label Propaganda pel Fet. The consolidation of the group is done with Terra (2003), a work where they try their luck with new styles; before that, they record the piece La flama (2004), with which they are known outside Spain. In 2005 Obrint Pas sort, In moviment, album recorded at the concert which takes place in Valencia on April 25 in tribute to Ovidi Montllor (1942-1995), singer and Valencian actor who takes part in the movement of the new Valencian song and of which we celebrated the 10 years of the disappearance>.
The group performs in 2006 an international tour called 2006 Internacionalista Tour. The group took the opportunity to go through countries where he had never played before, like England, Norway, the Czech Republic, France, Argentina and many others. In 2007 the group presents Benvingut al Paradís, album accompanied by a DVD delivering images and videos of the tour of the previous year, as well as featurings of other foreign groups, rather oriented Hip-Hop (Alif Sound System, Area 23).
