Ratatat is a New York electronic music duet featuring guitarist Mike Stroud and mixer and producer Evan Mast.
Stroud and Mast meet at Skidmore College. However, they did not start working together until 2001, on a project called Cherry. Composed and recorded in the Mast apartment in Brooklyn. Their first album Ratatat was published in 2004. This album is entirely instrumental, but includes excerpts of dialogues of films at the beginning or the end of certain pieces.
In 2004 also released Ratatat Remixes Vol. 1 their first remix album.
Their second album Classics was released in 2006; always instrumental, however, it appears more varied, it introduces new sound textures and is much more on the guitar than the first album, many synthesizers also appear.
