Renaud Séchan , says Renaud , born May 11, 1952> in Paris, is a French singer-songwriter.
With twenty-three albums totaling almost twenty million copies sold, Renaud is one of the most popular singers in France and one of the best known in the French-speaking world. His songs, texts willingly enamelled slang, address themes as light as serious, alternating humor, emotion and social criticism.
He has dubbed himself "the annoying singer" because of his many commitments to causes such as human rights, environmentalism or antimilitarism that frequently appear in his songs. Although his positions have sometimes been controversial, he has become over the years one of the most popular French.
He also played in a few films, notably in 1993 in the adaptation of Germinal by Claude Berri.
