Sharon Van Etten is born in Clinton, New Jersey. In 1999, she moved to Tennessee to study at Middle Tennessee State University but left the school a year later. Van Etten worked at a record shop in Murfreesboro before returning to New Jersey on 2004, then to New York in 2005.
Van Etten is dedicated to a career as a musician and singer, while working alongside, as a journalist in particular. She self-produced several albums, before being able to realize a first studio album in 2009 >>>>>.
