Swallow the sun

Swallow the Sun is a Finnish melodic death metal and doom metal band from Jyväskylä. He was trained in the spring of 2000 by Juha Raivio, who is the guitarist.

Shortly after the creation of the group in the spring of 2000 by Juha Raivio, Pasi Pasanen, who already plays in the group Plutonium Orange with him, joins him. Some of the songs from this demo come from this band, one of them being Through Her Silvery Body from their first demo album Out of this Gloomy Light . In 2001, Markus Jämsen, whom Raivio and Pasanen already knew from their previous bands, joined them as second guitarist and Mikko Kotamäki of the band Funeris Nocturnum as singer. Some songs are composed and they began to look for a bassist and a keyboard player. Their research is short-lived: Aleksi Munter and Matti Honkonen, also a member of the Funeris Nocturnum group, join the group after a rehearsal. In the spring of 2002, they started arranging some songs for their demo release in January 2003. The recordings were at Sam's Workshop with Sami Kokko, who also mixed this demo.

A contract is signed with the label Firebox Records a few months after recording their first demo, and Swallow the Sun enters the studio around July 2003. During the next three weeks, they record their first album, The Morning Never Came . This is the album that opens the way to the ever-growing success they are currently experiencing. Despite many concerts, they continue to compose en route. In January 2005, the group announces its entry to the studios Sam's Workshop Lutakko January 24 with the producer Sami Kokko for the recording of their second album>. In February 2005, Swallow the Sun released his second album Ghosts of Loss . Their single Forgive Her ... is 4> in the Finnish Top 20 Singles ranking during the first week of release, and stays in the rankings for six weeks>.

In 2006, after a European tour, they settled on an island off Helsinki with the aim of recording Hope . Being in "profoundly changed the direction of the album (in addition to making a great venue for guests)" , according to Juha Raivio . In addition, they are granted the privilege to see in appearance on Jonas Renkse (Katatonia singer), in the song The Justice of Suffering , as well as Tomi Joutsen (singer Amorphis), in the song These Two Lands , taken from Alavilla Mailla of the Finnish band Timo Rautiainen and Trio Niskalaukaus (exclusively available in the digipack edition).
