The Used was formed in 2001 in Orem, Utah, USA. At the end of the 1990s, The Used was only Branden Steineckert. Quinn Allman and Jepha join Branden, with a succession of different singers. It was only shortly before January 2001 that they met Bert McCracken, whom they had seen before in another group. Bert had seen an announcement at the time that the band had left, saying they were looking for a singer. He immediately contacted the group and shortly thereafter, he officially joined the group. Before McCracken's arrival, his name was Dumb Luck.
