The wombats

The Wombats is an independent English rock band.

The three future members meet at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. The school gives them a chance to perform at a concert in front of 20,000 people in China. This is the band's first trip to play outside of England. They spend their time traveling across the country in an Opel Agila. Their first single, Lost in the Post, was released in late 2006. They also released an album in Japan called Girls, Boys and Marsupials.

The band releases a second limited edition vinyl called Moving to New York in January 2007. In May, the group released their third single Backfire at the Disco leading them to release their first real single Kill the Director in late July. He reached the 35> place on the charts of singles of the United Kingdom. Their latest single, Let's Dance to Joy Division, was released in October 2007, coinciding with the release of their debut album The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation, which reached the 15th place in the UK single charts. United. The exit is followed by a European tour that ends with a Thanksgiving party at the Liverpool Academy.

The group begins in 2008 opening at the opening ceremony in Liverpool for the European Capital of Culture at the Liverpool Arena. Moving to New York is re-recorded on January 14, 2008, and reaches the top of the charts for their best score ever. The band toured the UK from April to May 2008. The band also played for Jo Wiley on BBC Radio 1.
