Tuomas holopainen Tuomas Lauri Johannes Holopainen is a Finnish musician, songwriter and producer born on 25 December 1976 in Kitee, Finland. He is the keyboardist, leader and principal composer of the songs of the Nightwish group of which he is one of the founders. He has also played in the groups Nattvindens Gråt and Darkwoods My Betrothed, as well as in the group of Timo Rautiainen. His side group is currently For My Pain .... He has also paid tribute to the comics The Youth of Scrooge, written and drawn by Don Rosa by composing a solo album, Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge.

Tuomas Holopainen was born on December 25, 1976 in Kitee. He is the youngest child of his family. He shows at the age of 2 a certain gift to memorize the letters of the alphabet, especially when he says he could decipher the term "X-Ray", during a stay in the hospital following 'a broken leg>.

It was at the age of seven that Tuomas began learning music with the piano. Around the age of ten, thanks to his mother, he took clarinet lessons and continued his studies at a music college. Tuomas also played tenor saxophone in a jazz band.

In 1993, from the age of 17, the synthesizer and the piano became his favorite instruments, when he joined his first group Dismal Silence after a stay in America. He will play for several bands, like Darkwoods My Bethrothed, Nattvindens Gråt or Sethian>.
