Type o negative

Type O Negative is an American metal band from Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 1990, the group was born from the ashes of the Carnivore group.

The group is known for being one of the first successes in the style of gothic metal. His varied music is actually at the intersection of several genres such as doom, gothic metal, thrash and hardcore. The references and influences of the group are the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Doors or Pink Floyd. The group is primarily known for its slow, heavy and dark music. He has also often distinguished himself with his squeaky, morbid humor and self-mockery. The group gained some popularity during the 1990s - especially among the female audience - through songs such as "Love You to Death" , Black No. 1 and Christian Woman . Their latest album Dead Again was released in March 2007.

Formed in 1988 by Peter Steele, a former member of the Carnivore group, the band began their music quartet under the name of Repulsion and then Sub Zero. The band then evolved under the name Type O Negative, which Steele found the name in a negative O-type blood donation ad by browsing the phone book: "At that time one of Steele's favorite games is to flick through the local directory. On page 136, he notices the advertisement of a bank that is ready to pay a fortune for a certain blood group: The negative O ...>. The group consists initially of Steele on bass and vocals, Kenny Hickey on guitar, Josh Silver on keyboard, and Sal Abruscato on drums. They composed and released their first album, Slow Deep and Hard , in 1991, recorded under the name of work ( No More Negative ).

The tour following the release of this first album is disrupted by scandals and attacks related to accusations of misogyny and Nazi sympathies. As a result, several concerts are canceled or shortened, particularly in Holland, where only one date (the one in Katwijk aan Zee) out of the five initially planned will be maintained. Their second album The Origin of the Feces ( Not live at Brighton Beach ) is presented as a live in which the band is booed, whistled and insulted by the public. It is actually a fake live, and these crowd recordings are only a staging clean humor self-deprecating group>. The initial cover of the album The Origin of the Feces shows a close-up view of the anus of the group's leader, Peter Steele, with his hands spreading her buttocks>. This cover has caused scandal, a new cover is designed thereafter with a dance macabre.
