Watain

Watain is a Swedish black metal band from Uppsala. Formed in 1998>, the band's name is inspired by a recording of the American black metal band Von >>>>>.

Watain is formed in 1998 >>>>>. According to Erik Danielsson, when the group was formed, "there was really no group who wanted to take themselves seriously, and there was no more group with people who you know, who did more than play the music they loved and that their idols worshiped. They publish their Go Fuck Your Jewish "God" demo in 1998 and their live Black Metal Sacrifice in 1999, which will only be not reissued>. In October 1999, the band released EP The Essence of Black Purity on Grim Rune Productions>, which they consider their first official release>, and performed on stage alongside Malign and Dark Funeral at a concert organized by Watain and Grim Rune Productions >>>.

Watain's debut album Rabid Death's Curse is released on the labels End All Life Productions and Drakkar Productions in 2000, followed by a split EP with Diabolicum released by Spikekult Records. A split LP with Malign is announced for the early 2000s at Grim Rune Productions before the recording of Watain's second album, Casus Luciferi, but it will never be released. Watain tours Europe with Unpure in early 2002>. In 2003, they entered the studio again for the recording of their studio album, Casus Luciferi, whose lyrics are written by Necromorbus of Funeral Mist (who will produce their albums since The Essence of Black Purity and will play bass on stage for them), MkM of Antaeus and Scorn of Katharsis. They follow with The Stellar Infernal Descension Tour in Europe, with Secrets of the Moon and Averse Sefira>. They also play in 18 countries with Dissection at the 2004 Rebirth of Dissection tour. Dissection Set member Teitan supports Watain in Russia in 2005, due to the absence of bassist Whorth>, and then becomes an official live member of the band.

In 2006, members of the group make a Nazi salute and wear a NSBM Absurd group t-shirt after their appearance at the Party.San Open Air, an event that will be worth to them being accused of Nazis. Concerning this incident, Erik Danielsson gives Metal.de an evasive answer, but shares his view of the NSBM that he and his group consider a joke: "the NSBM is only a joke, a desperate approach of guys who can not tell the difference between perversion and the madness of black metal. They believe they are extreme This world is rotten! black metal has nothing to do with the world we know. Their third album, Sworn to the Dark , was released in Europe on February 21, 2007, and the band is touring Europe with Celtic Frost, Kreator and Legion of the Damned. In 2008, they play their first concert in North America with Withered and Book of Black Earth. Eclipse Eternal and Kronosfear also join them.
