Behemoth is a Polish black and death metal band from Gdańsk. Formed in 1991, the group is considered to have played an important role in the emergence of Polish underground extreme metal >>>. Most of Behemoth's albums focus on satanic themes including references to such authors as Aleister Crowley, John Milton and William Blake.
Since the late 1990s, the group adopts a style of traditional black metal, with lyrics written by singer Nergal and Krzysztof Azarewicz. Following the release of the album Satanica , in 1999, the group shows its presence on the death metal scene. Although Behemoth is categorized as death, black or thrash metal, Nergal mentions not appreciating that the band is categorized as>.
Behemoth was formed in 1991 as a trio, with Nergal on guitar and vocals, Adam Muraszko on drums, and Desecrator on guitar. They start with their demos Endless Damnation , and The Return of the Northern Moon < / span >>. The most significant demo, however, is the third, ... from the Pagan Vastlands , in 1993. The audio cassette is recorded and sent to the Polish label Pagan Records and, later, the American label Wild Rags.
