Early on, the group is experiencing different membership changes, but it was only in 2009, when Andy moved to Hollywood that his projects began to materialize. June 17, 2009, released the clip of the song Knives and Pens. She talks about the difficulty of growing up as an outcast in America, and the fight against discrimination against the emo style. This 17 June date was later picked up by the band's fans as BVB Day.
Several weeks after the video aired, Andy began his quest to find members and complete the group. It was during this research that Andy Biersack met Ashley Purdy, who later became the band's bassist.
