Julian arcas

Julio Gabino Arcas Lacal , known as Julián Arcas is a classical guitarist and Spanish composer born in the Province of Almería in 1832 and died in Antequera on February 16 1882. He was one of the most important Spanish musicians of the last thirty years of the XIX century.

He learned to play with his father and continued his training in Malaga, in the school of Dionisio Aguado.

He gives concerts across Europe from 1860. The young Francisco Tárrega will hear it that same year in Castellón de la Plana and will be invited to study with him in Barcelona.

Arcas has written a symphony and some fifty pieces, including some transcriptions, for guitar. Most were published in Barcelona by Vidal y Roger.
