Mike + The Mechanics , stylized M1ke + The Mechan1c5 is a British pop rock band from London, England.
The band was formed in 1985 as a project by Mike Rutherford, a founding member of Genesis. The group is known for its successes like Another Cup of Coffee, Silent Running, Miracle, Taken In, The Living Years, Word of Mouth and Over My Shoulder.
The group initially included Paul Carrack, Paul Young (Sad Café, not to be confused with solo singer Paul Young who recorded with Zucchero), keyboard player Adrian Lee and drummer and percussionist Peter Van Hooke, a former Van musician Morrison.
After the death of Paul Young (following a heart attack on July 15, 2000), the group reformed in 2004 under the name of Mike + the Mechanics + Paul Carrack. The album Rewired is followed by a tour in the first part of Phil Collins.
