Mother love bone

Mother Love Bone is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. Although the songs of the group have quickly been a great success, thanks to his singer Andrew Wood, the death of the latter shortly before the release of the first album in 1990 makes it an ephemeral group. Despite its short existence, Mother Love Bone will have a great influence on the development of grunge in the 1990s.

Mother Love Bone was formed in 1987 in Seattle by Andrew Wood (formerly Malfunkshun), Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Bruce Fairweather, all three from Green River. In fact, these four had been playing since 1987 with Regan Hagar (ex-Malfunkshun) in a cover band called Lords of the Wasteland. Regan Hagar is replaced by Greg Gilmore (formerly Skin Yard) in early 1988.

The band began composing and filming in the Seattle area, quickly gaining a solid reputation, due in part to the stage performances of singer Andrew Wood. At the beginning of 1989, the band signs a contract with Mercury Records, a subsidiary of the PolyGram group, which will form an exclusive Stardog Records label. In March 1989 released the first EP five titles, entitled Shine , which quickly knows the success. the band plays regularly while composing songs for the future recording of an album. The latter is recorded at the end of the year in San Francisco, Andrew Wood, to be in the best of shape, having done shortly before a detox to overcome her addiction to heroin. Unfortunately, on March 16, 1990, a few days before the release of the album entitled Apple , Andrew Wood dies of a heroin overdose, this which ends the career of the group >>>.

On April 14, 2010, the remaining four members of Mother Love Bone gather for the first time (with Shawn Smith on vocals) for a party Brad and Friends at the Seattle Showbox. They play Stardog Champion , Holy Roller , Gentle Groove and a cover of Hold Your Head Up of Silver. In 2016, the posterity of Mother Love Bone is celebrated with the release of a triple CD chest entitled "On Earth as It Is: The Complete Works" .
